Ford Fiesta: Battery, Mounting and Cables / Battery. Removal and Installation

Removal

  1.   WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this section, refer to Safety Warnings in section 100-00 General Information. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

    Follow the health and safety precautions.
    Refer to: Health and Safety Precautions (100-00 General Information, Description and Operation).
  1. Disconnect the battery.
    Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures).

Vehicles with 1.0L EcoBoost or 1.6L EcoBoost engine

  1. Detach the retainer and position aside the wire harness.

All vehicles

  1. Remove the nuts and the battery hold-down bracket.
    Torque: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)
  1. Remove the battery.

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Vehicles with 1.0L EcoBoost or 1.6L EcoBoost engine

  1. If replacing a battery, use the scan tool to carry out the Battery Monitoring System (BMS) reset after the battery is connected.
