Ford Fiesta: Side Panel Sheet Metal Repairs / B-Pillar and Reinforcement. Removal and Installation

Removal

NOTICE: The B-pillar inner reinforcement is constructed of boron steel and cannot be sectioned. Replacement of the B-pillar inner reinforcement must be done at the factory seams.

1. Remove the B-pillar outer panel.
   Refer to: B-Pillar Outer Panel (501-29 Side Panel Sheet Metal Repairs, Removal and Installation).
   

1. Drill out the spot welds and remove the B-pillar reinforcement.
   Use the General Equipment: Spot Weld Drill Bit

Installation

NOTICE: The B-pillar inner reinforcement is constructed of boron steel and cannot be sectioned. Replacement of the B-pillar inner reinforcement must be done at the factory seams.

1. Drill plug weld holes in the replacement panel.
   Use the General Equipment: 8 mm Drill Bit

1. Install, clamp and spot weld the B-pillar reinforcement.
   Use the General Equipment: Locking Pliers
   Use the General Equipment: Resistance Spotwelding Equipment

1. Install plug welds.
   Use the General Equipment: MIG/MAG Welding Equipment

1. Install the B-pillar outer panel.
