Ford Fiesta: Manual Transmission - 6-Speed Manual Transmission – B6 / Selector Mechanism. Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Remove the battery tray.
    Refer to: Battery Tray - 1.6L EcoBoost (132kW/180PS) – Sigma (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the air cleaner.
    Refer to: Air Cleaner (303-12B Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 1.6L EcoBoost (132kW/180PS) – Sigma, Removal and Installation).
    1. Detach the retainers and position aside the wiring harness.
    1. Remove the nuts and remove the battery tray support bracket from the transmission support insulator.
    1. Detach the retainers.
    1. Slide and position aside the wiring harness.
    • Disconnect the gearshift cable ends from the ball studs of the gearshift lever.
    • Slide the lock sleeve and remove the gearshift cables from the gearshift lever base.
    1. Position the selector mechanism in N position.
    1. Remove the selector mechanism bolts.
  1. NOTE: Make sure that no components catch.

    Remove the selector mechanism.

Installation

  1. NOTE: The O-ring seal is to be reused unless damaged.

    Lubricate and install the O-ring.
    Material: Motorcraft® Dual Clutch Transmission Fluid / XT-11-QDC (WSS-M2C200-D2)
  1. NOTE: Make sure that no components catch.

    • Make sure that the shift forks are in the N position.
    • Install the selector mechanism.
  1. Connect the electrical connector and install the bolts.
    Torque: 18 lb.ft (24 Nm)
  1. Refer to: Gearshift Cable Adjustment - 6-Speed Manual Transmission – B6 (308-06 Manual Transmission External Controls - 5-Speed Manual Transmission – B5/IB5/6-Speed Manual Transmission – B6, General Procedures).
    1. Slide and install the wiring harness.
    1. Install the retainers.
    1. Install the battery tray support bracket and nuts.
    1. Install the wiring harness.
  1. Install the battery tray.

  1. Install the battery.
    Refer to: Battery (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, Removal and Installation).
  1. Install the air cleaner.
    Refer to: Air Cleaner (303-12B Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 1.6L EcoBoost (132kW/180PS) – Sigma, Removal and Installation).
